One of the questions I ask all my brides before their trial is if they are considering getting a spray tan.
Spray tans are a great way to give the illusion that you just returned from a tropical vacation without harmful UV rays and uneven tan lines. I love spray tans, but getting one for your wedding can be tricky. No worries; I will give tips below to ensure you look your best on your special day.
HAVE A SPRAY TAN BEFORE YOUR BRIDAL TRIAL
I highly recommend that all brides-to-be have a 'spray-tan trial' before your bridal trial. Why? Well, for two reasons. It will allow you to experiment with the spray tan artist and have your tan during your bridal trial with your makeup artist.
Having your tan for your trial is incredibly helpful for you and your makeup artist. The trial is essential for you, the bride, so you can envision your appearance on your wedding day. For the makeup artist, the trial is when they match your skin tone and take photos and notes to prepare you quickly and efficiently for your wedding day.
GO TO A CERTIFIED SPRAY TAN ARTIST AND NOT A BOOTH
I highly recommend going to a certified spray tan artist and not into a booth. A spray tan artist can assist you in getting a natural-looking tan and can also do some contouring. Going to a certified spray tan artist also lessens the chance you will end up streaky or orange. Make sure to communicate with your artist about your desired level of color and any areas you want to avoid.
EXFOLIATE
Exfoliate in the shower with an oil-free exfoliant at least 4 hours before your appointment. Exfoliating your skin before your spray tan will remove dead skin cells and ensure an even application. This will also help the spray tan solution to adhere better to your skin, resulting in a more natural-looking and long-lasting tan. Do not wear lotion or deodorant to your appointment, as they could interfere with the solution.
WEAR LOOSE DARK CLOTHING
After your spray tan, avoiding any friction on your skin that could rub off the solution is essential-this is why you should avoid tight or restrictive clothing. I recommend wearing loose, dark clothing to your appointment and afterward.
TAKE YOUR TIME
Wait 8 hours after your spray tan before getting wet or showering. This time will allow the solution to develop fully.
MAINTAIN YOUR TAN
Your spray tan artist will give tips to maintain your tan at home. Please follow them. Usually, these include moisturizing daily and avoiding harsh exfoliation.
Overall, spray tanning is an excellent option for brides-to-be looking for a natural-looking tan on their big day. With these tips, you can achieve the perfect bronze glow and look your best on your special day.
